It’s rare that I do a sunrise session when I’m shooting in my area. Our beaches face the West so sunset are my top choice. That being said, our rainy season can make shooting in the evening a little tricky. This family was visiting the Orlando area on vacation from New Mexico. They were dreaming of a beach session since they mostly have mountains in their area. Sadly, it absolutely poured the night of their session. We were both 40 min. down the road before we decided to call it and head back home. There was no chance the rain was going to stop that night.

Because I was fully booked with sessions every night until they left town, a sunrise shoot was our only option. They left the Orlando area at 4am to get to Venice Beach by sunrise. I was a little closer and was able to head that way at 5:30 am. When we arrived, the sky was mostly blue with touches of pink. It was stunning. The darker styling + the dark grey sand at this beach + the moody clouds made for a dark and dreamy effect. Here are a few of my favorites from their session.
