Large families are so fun to photograph. With smaller families, there are lots of quiet moments where you can hear the waves crashing and the wind blowing. That rarely happens with big families. There’s always something happening. I love the beautiful chaos that comes with this. This truly is what it’s like to have a big family, especially if the kids are spread out in age.
This mom wanted her family captured in a way that felt authentic to them. No stiff poses. No “are we done yet?” comments. Just the seven of them spending time together on the beach. Normally, we would have done this session in Naples but with many beaches still recovering from the hurricane, we went further south to Marco Island.
Marco Island has beautiful white sand, lots of shells and a large jetty where I love to do family photography. The rocks give families something to climb, sit or stand on which adds variety to the gallery and allows me to capture authentic, unposed moments.
